What are the three major categories of pedestrian access control gates?

Pedestrian access control gates are common intelligent access control devices, widely used in high-traffic areas such as public transportation hubs, enterprises, shopping malls, and amusement parks. They verify identities through methods like card swiping and facial recognition, enabling security protection, data statistics, and intelligent management.

The turnstile primarily consists of a mechanical system and an electronic control system: the card reader is responsible for reading identity information, the main control board handles recognition and judgment, and the direction indicator guides pedestrians through. The main body is typically made of stainless steel, offering rust and corrosion resistance, and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. It supports multiple identification methods and features alarm, data statistics, and remote monitoring functions.

Common pedestrian access gates are primarily divided into three categories:

1. Swing gate—Balancing efficiency and safety

The swing gate operates by driving the swing arm to move back and forth through a motor, enabling fast passage. It features a sleek design, easy maintenance, and high safety standards with anti-jamming, anti-tailgating, and anti-bypass functions. It is suitable for use in enterprises, residential communities, train stations, supermarkets, and other venues.

2. Flap Gate – Balancing Fast Passage with Aesthetic Fashion

The flap of the swing gate resembles a wing, opening and closing via motor-driven extension and retraction. It offers fast passage, a stylish appearance, and easy maintenance. Suitable for high-traffic areas such as factories, schools, subway stations, libraries, and stadiums, it can also be integrated with systems like card access or facial recognition.

3. Triple Rollers—The Practical and Cost-Efficient Choice

The three-roller gate is a mechanical type that opens and closes via the rotation of three rollers, typically requiring manual pushing to pass. It is commonly used in conjunction with card swiping and is frequently found in scenic areas and toll facilities. Its main advantages are low cost and simple structure, along with features like anti-tailgating and anti-jumping. However, its passage speed, width, and level of intelligence fall short compared to the other two types. When selecting pedestrian access control gates, the key factors to consider are the usage environment, foot traffic, safety requirements, and budget.
